The Wonderful World of Oysters at
The Lobster Trap
Wednesday or Thursday, 11:30 am

Sample oysters from New England, Canada, the West Coast and the Gulf Coast while Chef Tres shows you how to navigate an Oyster Bar Menu. Oysters will be served with tastings of complimentary wine and beer. As Chef Tres says, "You really just don't get to do this that often!"

How to Make Chocolate Plastic
Wednesday and Friday, 1 pm
Stovetrotter's Culinary Arts Center just opened on Sweeten Creek Road and will offer a sweet cooking class to demonstrate how to mold chocolate to create a chocolate "plastic" basket.

Ophelia's Fresh-from-the-Farm Outdoor Kitchen
Wednesday, 2-4 pm
Chef Jamie Allred from Ophelia’s Restaurant and Bar will create an “outdoor kitchen” at the Wednesday Downtown Farmers’ Tailgate Market, and cook up tasty delights using just-harvested produce, locally-raised free range meats, goat cheeses, and other goods from market vendors. Visitors will be also be able to sample dishes from Ophelia’s fresh-from-the-farm seasonal menu. The market is located in the parking lot next to the French Broad Food Co-op, 90 Biltmore Avenue, downtown Asheville. This event is free.

A Taste of Fall Harvest at Frankie Bones Restaurant
Wednesday, 5 pm – 10 pm (Winemaker visits 6 – 8 pm)
Frankie Bones is featuring a prix fixe Fall Harvest dinner to showcase the select fresh produce, herbs and ingredients found in Asheville paired with wine flights from the Biltmore Estate Winery. The 4-course dinner  includes appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert, each paired with a select wine.

Jazz on the Square

Jazz Enthusiasts will enjoy a contemporary take on familiar classics with the Curt Heiny trio. Guests can enjoy conversation, great food and fine wines while listening to the smooth sounds of guitar, upright bass and percussion. Café on the Square offers the perfect setting for an evening out on the town with large picture windows overlooking Pack Square. Chef’s Hawes and Couey will make this a memorable evening with a 3 course meal and special take home gift. $50.00 per person includes tax and gratuity. Smoke-free restaurant.

Taste of Asheville Beer Dinner at Corner Kitchen

The Corner Kitchen is teaming up with local brewers and farmers to create a unique evening. Corner Kitchen will combine the efforts of  Pisgah Brewing, French Broad Brewing and Highland Brewing as well as the products of Springhouse Meats, Katydid Farms and Sunburst trout. Chef de Cuisine Josh Weeks will be cooking it all up to create a night to remember. $50.00 per person all inclusive, 828-274-2439.

Fiore's Seven Course Tuscan Feast & Wine Pairing

Fiore's Ristorante Tuscana has created a dining experience to introduce you to the delights of unpretentious Italian fare. Vincenzo's will be offering a five course (Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, Formaggi and Dolce) dinner paired with Italian wines featuring unique varietals. Since we are a northern Italian restaurant, we will focus on the provinces of Piedmont, Lombardy and Venzia/Trentino/Collio. This will be as genuine an Italian dining experience as you can produce outside of Italy itself.

Shop with the Chef
Saturday, September 29th, 8 am
Join Mark Rosenstein, owner/chef of The Market Place Restaurant, as he makes his morning rounds of the North Asheville farmers’ tailgate market recently relocated to the UNCA campus. Mark will introduce the farmers, offer produce selection and cooking tips, and share his philosophy of using seasonal, indigenous ingredients to create fine cuisine.  Bring your shopping bag so you can buy what the chef buys . . . or make your own discoveries.  Then off to his restaurant kitchen, where he will offer a cooking class and allow you to taste his preparations using the fresh market ingredients, some of which will appear on the menu that evening. Meet at the Saturday Market located in the large tiered parking lot near the entrance to the campus. Meet Mark at the top of the stairs at 8 am SHARP. The guided market tour is free and open to the public.  Due to limited space in the restaurant kitchen, prepayment for the cooking class is required and registration is limited to 12 people.

Celebration of Fall Outdoor Party with Harvest and Drinkin Beanz Coffee House

All of Eastwood Village in Reynolds will be getting into the mix of things. Harvest Restaurant will be firing up the grill for an outdoor barbeque. There will be a live band and cash bar. Worldly Wine and Cheese at Santé Wine Bar

Taste and experience Europe through a five course pairing of “old world” wines and cheeses.  You’ll begin in France with a classic -- Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc paired with soft, fresh chevre and then move to a less traditional pairing of Beaujolais Villages and Camembert.  Next, you’ll travel south to Spain, where you’ll savor an organic and biodynamic Rioja while enjoying an herbed Manchego.  Then, onto Italy where you’ll sip an old vine Nebbilo and nibble on aged Pecarino.  And finally, relish a true Austrian TBA, a dessert wine steeped in honey and flowers while sampling a Danish Blue. Devon Price will present the wines and a representative from The Big Cheese located in the Grove Arcade will present the cheeses.
